Book Review: The Enemy by Sarah Adams

June and Ryan hate each other from their graduation days. It’s always a war between them. After twelve years there is a reunion of sorts in Charleston, South Carolina as their best friends Stacey and Logan are getting married. June is the maid of honor and Ryan is the best man as well as the chef for the wedding to be. Stacey, co-owns a bakery with June. Ryan also happens to be a famous chef in Chicago and his success is the talk of the town. Both have not forgotten their high animosity and years of bitterness spills sarcasm most of the time. It has an interesting plot twist and witty interactions that leave the reader in splits. There is never a dull moment in the book.

Sarah Adams from Nashville, Tennessee has woven a story of emotional depth, humor, magnetic chemistry, heartbreak, loss, intrigue, sweet games, family, loneliness, siblings, a good support system and thick friendships. It’s a joyride from start to finish. The bond that June shares with her family, especially her mother, is phenomenal. There is a good understanding and loads of tender loving care. It’s a lighthearted rom com that brings smiles effortlessly. Frenemies June and Ryan as the book progresses learn a lot about each other which got buried in their violent verbal clashes years ago. It’s a feel good novel and spreads joy.
