English Poetry: Heat wave

Scorching heat and blazing sun greet
people have second thoughts to meet.

Everything burns
high temperatures take turns.

Guzzling gallons of water cools
icecreams get the drools.

Poor on roads suffer
lovebirds who still meet are duffers.

Shakes and cold drinks are in demand
crowds head to pools and islands.

Hill stations are full
lakes, rivers, streams and cold climates pull.

Clothing is minimal
environs are dismal.

Hot winds bite
there is no respite.

Any time of day it’s hell
it’s God’s wrath everyone could tell.

Even if you bathe it’s still the same
hot spells are to blame.

Coolers and air conditioners inflate bills
but they bring smiles as well as send chills.

Power cuts are normal things
heat wave takes away the zing.
