Blog: Habits

Habits are our second nature. They can be both good and bad. Habits die hard but with effort anything is possible. They have the ability to increase or decrease the quality of life. A very important part is played by them in improving our mood. When we maintain good habits our energy levels get a boost. Positive energy flows from all directions when we indulge in them in an automated manner. Our goals get direction. We feel happier and in sync with our loved ones.

Bad habits drain us then negativity surrounds from all corners. They take a toll on our health. Our value system is shaken. Anxiety doubles. Depression makes inroads. Clarity of thoughts takes a backseat. We feel stranded. Loved ones start doubting us and stop supporting us through  thick and thin. Friends become distant. We feel like an outcast. Mental stability faces umpteen questions. We are unable to make result oriented decisions.

When we practice goal oriented habits then everyone is impacted because of the goodness they spread. Exercising, eating healthy, helping others without any profit or loss, keeping the environment clean and harboring positive thoughts does greater good overall for oneself as well as society as a whole. Subconsciously when we do things it enhances the patterns of our behaviour thus habits take shape. Healthy habits benefit everyone. Things become possible when good habits fill our beings.

Efficiency is hit when negative habits dwell in us. Good habits increase our productivity on the contrary. Frequent interruptions happen when we fuel bad habits. They not only waste our time and energy but create roadblocks in achieving our goals. When we become slaves to our habits then it jeopardises everything. Our jobs, relationships, friend circle and things that matter take a hit when nothing substantial is happening while we indulge in them from time to time.

Good habits can replace bad habits when determination and involvement is stronger. Good habits build and motivate one to do better. Bad habits can destroy one’s existence. Negative and unhealthy habits divert our attention and enriching habits keep one focussed. Habits are important. Habits are our style statements and inculcating good ones act as a magnet towards positivity, productivity and we become what we always aspire to be in our lives.
