English Poetry: Love came by anyway

Grief in hearts
suspicious minds
living lives and seasons in parts
everything was a grind.

Closed windows
doors were shut
crying fellows
in loveless huts.

Trespassers were ignored
sometimes insulted and punished
stubborn ones were abhorred
guess they were banished.

Kind words saw rudeness
affection was silenced
lips were sealed in readiness
as a lot had been experienced.

Bittersweet memories had guards
weaknesses had masks
emotions had invisible bodyguards
souvenirs were in the flasks.

Behaviours were rough
every opening was barred
oh it looked they were tough
cause everything was marred.

Constant loving and caring made waves
unattended fissures finally got tending
unconditional love makes you crave
good understanding kept trending.

Perpetual knocking made the difference
protectiveness carved new ways
it wasn’t interference
cause love came by anyway.
