English Poetry: Time

shallow focus photography of hourglass

It’s a healer
yet makes us pay
can be meaner
helps us sway.

A divine medicine
without trumpets
still holds opinions
without any bets.

In joy slips faster
in mourning hardly passes
an invincible master
who none can tame not even the masses.

Precious beyond words
waste it and end up being a loser
a menacing sword
an indescribable poser.

So powerful
never dies
so vengeful
simply flies.

Fills and decants
soothes but also whips
sometimes a nurturing plant
sometimes rips.

No smell
leaves its fragrance
people dwell
when in abundance.

Waits for no one
yet leaves a trail
a godly cone
a holy grail.
