Book Review: Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo
This Man Booker Prize 2019 co-winner is a page-turner that highlights feminism through its women characters who are interconnected yet diverse. The chosen women have a chapter each dedicated to them informing the reader about their struggles, achievements, choices & decisions as they tread along in their respective lives. The beauty lies in the vivid yet simple description that keeps the reader fixated from the very start. Relatable and entertaining at the same time.
Evaristo through her sensitive observations has heavy questions about society at large with a sense of humor and easy storyline. It’s enjoyable and joyful as it unfolds to its end. Each storyline has so much to offer that they are uniquely beautiful in their own way. It’s a book that has the capacity to stay for long in mind.
