Book Review: Legend of Suheldev by Amish Tripathi
The mythological writer for a change has for the first time wrote under the Immortal Centre of Writers. Skilled researchers and writers have assisted him in drafting the plot. It is Amish’s fictional story for which the writers drafted a summary and he has finalized it with his expertise.
The book tells about the forgotten hero of 11th century India, Suheldev, King of Shravasti. It showcases the invasion of Mahmud of Ghazni on our motherland and how India was saved from the Turks. The Turks had destroyed the Somnath Temple which was dedicated to Lord Shiva. Devout followers of Lord Shiva wanted this barbaric act avenged hence King Suheldev came to their rescue.
Legend of Suheldev not only unites different religions of that century but also delves deep into the righteous paths of castes and cultures that were prevalent then. It acts as a guide for the present times too. The tale is spun as such that it is both inspiring and adventurous simultaneously. There is never a dull moment and scenes of the battleground keep one hooked till the very end. It is an epitome of great leadership and courage woven in simplicity. It has friendship, patriotism, treachery, betrayal, goodwill, love, and ambition that has huge sacrifices up its sleeve to save India from foreign invaders. It helps to taste yesteryear India in all its myriad flavors.
